Ruth Langsford had a candid conversation in front of the nation, believing that she was in the middle of a commercial break, when she was actually on air. “Right, you can tell us about it now, Ruth!” her co-star announced, only for the blundering QVC star to ask: “Tell her what?”
In a video posted to fellow star Jackie Kabler’s account, she sounded confused. “Tell her about the jumper!” her co-star coaxed, before dissolving into peals of laughter and quizzing: “What are you doing?”
Ruth shot back: “Are we on air now?” and, as the modelling of a lilac jumper continued, her colleague exclaimed: “Yes! Did you not realise?! What did you think I was doing?!” Jackie captioned the video footage: “When you’re chatting away on the telly and @ruthlangsford thinks you’re still in the commercial break!”
“That hasn’t happened before!” a cringing Ruth assured her followers as she reposted the hilarious clip on her own Instagram account. One of her jumper models an elegant blonde lady in a soft lilac number, had kept a poker face throughout the embarrassing moment, twirling around to give the nation the best view of the outfit.
Although the others in the room acted as though nothing had happened, nothing could hold back Jackie’s laughter. She also amused fans with another clip from earlier in the day when she wasn’t exactly dressed for work.
Jackie’s behind the scenes clip depicted her walking around backstage in what she insisted were night clothes.
Ruth chuckled bashfully in a video she’d captioned: “Rehearsal time ahead of our 9pm show (@ruthlangsford being very grown up and still wearing her dressing gown!)”
“She’s such a child!” she joked, while a curve model called Claire posed in the background in a bright turquoise jumper, and a cameraman busily got snapping.
Jackie also shared footage of Ruth having her hair and makeup done before rehearsals kicked off.
As she was surrounded by her glam team, the star exclaimed: “This is the magic – where they transform me from that gorky person you saw in the lift!”
“More backstage randomness before a busy night on the telly,” Jackie explained.
Although Ruth is a popular fashion designer, ambassador and presenter, it seems that rehearsals don’t always capture her at her most switched on.
However, the 63-year-old took the mishap in excellent humour.
