The Chase’s Governess Anne Hegerty reacts to pleas from ‘fed up’ Beat The Chasers viewers | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Beat the Chasers is back on ITV tonight with another celebrity special – but fans aren’t happy.

Chaser Anne Hegerty shared a sneaky glimpse of what to expect from this evening’s (May 8) episode of the quiz show, with a clip posted to her X account (formerly Twitter). The teaser showed Anne, known as The Governess on the show, giving footballer David James a telling off.

She asked him whether he was on the show to quiz, or to picture her as a life model. Host Bradley Walsh then asked the sportsman if he would paint Anne in the nude. David replied: “I would definitely wear some clothes!”

Anne captioned the post: “Touche! Beat the Chasers, 9 pm ITV tonight! Ratings are going UP! #beatthechasers #thechase.”

Fans responded with their own thoughts on the show. Some of them had special requests for the Chaser and her co-stars.

One viewer Tweeted: “Stop doing them at same time as champions league”, to which Anne replied: “Tsk! Mere football! All the matches are the same!”

Other fans had a request for the format of the spin-off show. One user said: “No more celeb ones please” followed by a praying hands emoji. Another frustrated viewer agreed: “Yeah, fed up with this myself.”

Anne kindly suggested what needed to be done to make a change. The quizmaster said: “Tell ITV you want to see the civilian ones, then – we have some in the can!”

Tonight’s episode will see Bradley Walsh host, as Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Shobna Gulati, David James and Will Bayley take on quiz experts Mark Labbett, Anne Hegerty, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis – hoping to win big money for their chosen charities.

Last night’s show saw Mark, also known as ‘The Beast’, issue an apology to his fellow cast members. He said: “I apologise to my teammates absolutely for a false start there.”

He explained what had gone wrong, as he shouted out the incorrect answer to the first question. Getting a sly dig in against his competitor, Mark continued: “So I gave him another four seconds and he still lost.”
